Brink Family Reunions

The Next Brink family reunion will be held in September of 2001 at the original brink farm (Winona Huckshold's home) northeast of Nashville, Illinois. If the weather is too hot or inclimate, it will again be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Nashville, Illinois. The meal will again be catered. The following is the text from a reunion announcement letter dated March 15, 1998. Although the 1998 reunion is over, we hoope to see you at the reunion in 2001.

March 15, 1998

Dear Brink Family Members and Friends:

Our next reunion is drawing closer each day. Be sure you have your calendar marked to be here June 27, 1998. If the weather is nice, we will meet in the yard at Winona Huckshold's home. If the weather is bad or terribly hot, we ll meet at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Nashville, Illinois. See the enclosed map for directions to Winona s home and to the church in Nashville. Call Winona Huckshold at 618-493-7506 if in question as to where to meet. If meeting at the church, she'll leave a message on her answering machine confirming the location.

Schedule for Saturday, June 27, 1998:

• 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - Registration and Gathering of the Clan
  • Coffee, hot and cold tea, and ice water will be available. We are accessing a registration fee to help cover postage and other reunion expenses. This will be $2.50 per person, $5.00 per couple, or $6.00 per family.
• 10:00 a.m. - Share family history information.
  • Bring all your old pictures and your own family history information. Bring written stories about your immediate family and your ancestors. Our Brink Heritage book will be available as well as family tree charts for each immigrant child, the Bokemeyer's, and one for the German ancestors.
• 12:00 noon - Dinner will be catered
  • The menu will include chicken and ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, salad, rolls, butter, iced tea, coffee, and cake. The cost will be $8.00 per adult, $6.00 per child between the ages of five and twelve, and children four and under will be free.
• 1:30 p.m. - Picture Taking Time
  • Divide into family groups
• 2:30 p.m. - Visiting
  • Games:
  • - Volley Ball
  • - Horse Shoes
  • - Croquet
  • - Bad Minton
  • Bring other games you would like.

The Brink family history book, Our Brink Heritage, will be available at the reunion at a price of $45 per copy (575 plus pages). If we need to mail it to you, the price will be $50. Please indicate on the RSVP form the number of copies you are interested in. We've tried to keep the cost as low as possible. The history includes the Brinks back to the late 1500s and our connection to the Bokemeyers who own the old Brink home in Eicksen, Westphalia, Kreis Minden, Germany. It includes a lot of information on Krughoffs, Kruegers, Finkes, Hakes, Kleemans, Hoffmans, Hucks, etc. The appendices contain 51 old family pictures.

We also will have on a pre-order basis approximately three feet by four feet family tree charrts for each immigrant child #s 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, one for the Bokemeyers, and one for the German ancestors. They will sell for $6 each, and we will print what is ordered and prepaid.

Finally, if there is enough interest, we will have the entire family tree available on a computer CD. The CD will also include scanned immages of about 100 old Brink photos. The cost of the CD will be $20.

We also hope to have an Internet web site up and running announcing our Brink reunion and displaying our family historical information. If you have access to the internet, the site can be found at:

We will also need to have your RSVP for dinner. We have to provide the caterer with a number by June 1st. Please complete the registration form and return your payment for the dinner.
